Elizabeth Gray Vining

Elizabeth Gray Vining • A 2nd floor corner room on the front of the farmhouse, overlooking our side garden with gazebo and the vegetable garden and valley across the road, Elizabeth Gray Vining is a favorite of many guests, especially during the "fireplace" seasons. The walls in Vining are the original pine paneling of the farmhouse and project a warm glow. We recently gave this room a spruce-up with a white painted ceiling. It retains the charm of the old wood, with a brighter feel. Amenities include a ceiling fan, fireplace with gas logs, large upholstered reading chairs, table, queen bed, private bath with claw-foot tub/shower. Room air conditioner in summer. Includes a Complete Country Gourmet Breakfast For Two Each Morning. • Sleeps 1-2 • Reserve Now

History

Aunt Josie Mast, besides running the house and managing the vegetable garden and dairy, was a master weaver. She turned the original log cabin into a loom house and became celebrated for her coverlets, rugs, and handbags. Some of her coverlets are in the Smithsonian today.

Guest Reviews

"Thank you for a wonderful stay. It was much needed and we enjoyed it immensely. Thank you for your flexibility and hospitality."

"We had a wonderful time. The inn was beautiful, the food was great, and we love the Valle Crucis area, but what really made the trip special was your family’s hospitality. We appreciate the time you took to make our weekend unique. I have already recommended the Mast Farm Inn to several of my friends and co-workers, and S. and I hope to be back very soon ourselves. Please get in touch when you’re in Raleigh – we look forward to hearing from you again. Have a wonderful week!"

"Danielle, B and I think you are the bomb! And that you pulled everything off so well. We’d love for you to visit in Hickory. We have both talked about you and hope that you are adjusting well to the change of pace that the NC Mountains offered. We have a guest bedroom if you ever need a break from the daily routine. We’d love to invite you to the wedding. It is going to be a big party."
