The Shoppes at Farmers Hardware
The Shoppes at Farmers offers a unique shopping experience in the heart of historic downtown Boone. Located 45 minutes from the Inn, Ashe County Cheese is North Carolina’s oldest cheese plant. The viewing room is open year round at no charge and you can visit from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Saturday. They also offer other fine cheeses, locally made wines, gifts, and old fashioned snacks and candies

The Little Red Schoolhouse
The Little Red Schoolhouse was built in 1907 and was originally located behind the Valle Crucis Methodist Church. It has been moved three times and was once used as a barn, whose ownership was determined via a coin toss.
