Mom gives moonshine a classy makeover
"Mom gives moonshine a classy makeover" • "Running" moonshine has long been a tradition in western North Carolina. Lee Woodruff of CBS This Morning profiles one stay-at-home mom, Troy Ball of Troy & Sons, and Asheville Distilling Company, who devoted herself to turning the craft of making moonshine into an art. Producer Lee Woodruff, CBS This Morning, June 7th, 2012. CBS This Morning with Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Erica Hill airs Monday through Friday, 7am-9am.
Troy & Sons Distillers • Determined to find the perfect moonshine recipe, Troy Ball began testing recipes acquired from the North Carolina State Archives and residents from Madison to McDowell counties. On August 18, 2010, Troy distilled the perfect white liquor, using lost Crooked Creek Corn™, smooth as silk with vanilla oak undertones.
Troy & Sons brought to market, in June of 2011, the first true American Moonshine, honoring the spirit makers that produced for the circuit riding preachers of the 1800′s. We are the only distillery in the world producing spirits made from 1840′s Crooked Creek Corn, so we know we are producing a true Authentic American Spirit. It’s our pleasure to bring to you The World’s Finest Moonshine.
