A life-sized bronze statue of music icon Doc Watson, a native of Deep Gap, North Carolina, was installed and unveiled on Friday, June 24th, 2011 in Boone, North Carolina. The statue is the brainchild of John Cooper of The Mast General Store, and a project of the Downtown Boone Development Association. The bronze sculpture is located on the northeast corner of the intersection of King and Depot streets. The statue was created by noted sculptor Alex Hallmark
