About Sarah Jarosz | "Since signing to Sugar Hill Records at age 16, Sarah Jarosz has barely stopped to catch her breath, even as she leaves audiences and critics alike breathless. Rolling Stone has compared her to Gillian Welch; Mojo labeled her a "newgrass prodigy" for her skills on banjo, guitar and mandolin; and the normally reserved New York Times hailed her as "one of acoustic music’s finest talents," with songwriting chops to match her instrumental prowess."

Sarah Jarosz is a 23-year-old, Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from just outside Austin, TX. Her latest album, 2013’s Build Me Up From Bones, a follow up to 2011’s Follow Me Down, was recorded during her final year of college at New England Conservatory and released when she was at last able to tour without taking school into consideration. The album quickly garnered two Grammy nominations for Best Folk Album and Best American Roots Song, adding to her earlier nomination for her song “Mansinneedof” from her debut album Song Up In Her Head. Jarosz has also been nominated for Americana Music Association Awards for New/Emerging Artist of the Year (2010), Instrumentalist of the Year (2011), Song of the Year (2012) and Album of the Year (2014). Once described as Gillian Welch’s “long-lost daughter” by Rolling Stone, Jarosz’s music fits comfortably where contemporary folk, Americana and roots music intersect. She tours with stellar instrumentalists Alex Hargreaves (fiddle) and Nathaniel Smith (cello), playing for fans of acoustic, folk, Americana, bluegrass and singer-songwriter throughout the US and the UK. Hargreaves and Smith have a substantial presence on Build Me Up From Bones—the trio sound is the basis for a good part of the album. | WebSite | Twitter | FaceBook | YouTube | Amazon |
