Saint Valentine was a priest near Rome in about the year 270 AD, a time when the church was enduring great persecution. His ministry was to help the Christians to escape this persecution, and to provide them the sacraments, such as marriage, which was outlawed by the Roman Empire at that time. Saint Valentine was persecuted as a Christian and interrogated by Roman Emperor Claudius II in person. Claudius was impressed by Valentine and had discussions with him, attempting to get him to convert to Roman paganism in order to save his life. Valentine refused and tried to convert Claudius to Christianity instead. Because of this, he was executed. Before his execution, he is reported to have performed a miracle by healing the blind daughter of his jailer Asterius. On the evening before Valentine was to be executed, he would have written the first "valentine" card himself, addressed to the daughter of his jailer Asterius, who was no longer blind, signing as "Your Valentine.

• Maximum Stay ~ 3 Nights. If you wish to prolong your stay one or two extra nights, and your cottage or cabin is available, you can benefit from this special rate for the first night, and reserve the extra nights at regular rates.
• May Be Reserved No Earlier Than ~ 6 weeks prior to scheduled date, and available if restaurant not already sold out at time you call to reserve.
• Must Be Reserved No Later Than ~ 1 week prior to scheduled date, and available if restaurant not already sold out at time you call to reserve.
• Deposit required ~ 100% at The Time of Reservation
• Cancelation Policy ~ Full refund minus a $35 processing fee if cancelled 21 days prior to scheduled arrival, 50% refund if cancelled between 21-16 days prior to scheduled arrival, Billed completely without refund if cancelled 15 days or less prior to scheduled date of arrival
