Lodging Guide at The Mast Farm Inn Bed & Breakfast Country Inn, located in Valle Crucis, North Carolina

Lodging Selection Guide • The objective of this page is to provide you a synopsis of the key characteristics of different lodging options available at The Mast Farm Inn.

Sometimes it’s also about what you’re not. By philosophy, conviction and design, no person or room is a number. There are no plastic key cards. There are no TV’s, There are no phones. In that regard the Inn is the antithesis of a theme park representation of the past in vinyl & plastic, it is the past in warm aged woods, alive and well, for the traveler in need of celebrating some of the simpler and perhaps more meaningful things… each other. That and some mighty fine creature comforts are what we include in the rooms, cottages and cabins. Cocoon the old fashioned way.

All our rooms, cottages, and cabins are unique and all have private baths, and all except the rooms in the main Farm House have their own private or semi-private entrances. Lodging Selection Guide • The objective of this page is to provide you a synopsis of the key characteristics of the different lodging options available at the Inn.

The Historic Farmhouse Rooms
The third floor rooms, Cousin Sarah, The Cherry Room & Aunt Leona, tend to be more removed from the daily life of the inn, and there is a small parlor shared by the 3 rooms on the the 3rd floor. The second floor rooms, Nell’s Room, Elizabeth Gray Vining, Joe Mast, and Miss Allie, are closer to the restaurant, parlor and inn lobby, and as such closer to the daily life at the Inn.

The Historic Cottages & Cabins
The Loom House, The Blacksmith Shop and The Woodwork Shop along with the Farm House, The Granary & Barn are the oldest historical buildings of The Mast Farm Inn and are located in the central area of the property. The Loom House, the original Mast settlement cabin, is distinguished as the oldest inhabitable log cabin in North Carolina. The Loom House, The Blacksmith Shop and The Woodwork Shop are all a few feet from the main farmhouse and our restaurant Simplicity at The Mast Farm Inn, and close to Broadstone Road. Broadstone Road is a relatively quiet narrow two-lane country lane, with a 25 mph speed limit, except in high season where traffic can conceivably be an issue for guests who require more seclusion, who like to sleep very early or wake very late.

The Loom House, The Blacksmith Shop and The Woodwork Shop, The Granary & Main Farmhouse are all authentic historical structures renovated inside to provide modern amenities while retaining outside their authentic farm yard character. Although some preceded the main house by many decades they are now in some respects outbuildings of the main farm house and located in its yard. The Loom House, The Blacksmith Shop and The Woodwork Shop share a common parking area with the main farm house.

The Granary is across Broadstone Road adjacent to the Historic Mast Farm Inn Barn, and is very private, yet half-remote, and half-in-the-middle of things. It has its own parking, overlooks the corral, and has an outdoor deck facing the valley.

The Rustic Cottages & Cabins
Gazebo Cottage, Maple Spring Cottage, Mam’s Refuge and Uncle Earl’s Haven are tucked in the pine forest hill of the Inn and offer a very quiet, serene, private mountain forest atmosphere. Gazebo Cottage, Maple Spring Cottage, Mam’s Refuge, Uncle Earl’s Haven and The Granary while rustic North Carolina are more modern constructions with modern amenities. All offer a special private parking area for guests who prefer to drive rather than walk to and from the various areas of the property.
