The IBMA & North Carolina
The IBMA & North Carolina • The IBMA is moving its signature event from Nashville to Raleigh, North Carolina, for the next three years. World of Bluegrass is a five day business conference, award show, and world class music festival. In fact it’s a family gathering, and the "World" of Bluegrass is a much bigger world than one as yet unfamiliar with the genre and event might imagine.
The Mast Farm Inn is honored to be a lifetime organization member of The International Bluegrass Music Association and on the Board of Directors of The Foundation For Bluegrass Music. If you are a North Carolina company, organization, artist, resident or native, we invite you to become better informed, and to consider becoming a member of The IBMA to welcome IBMA to Our State. You can find more information on how to join and support the IBMA below.
"A musical genre created by Bill Monroe and North Carolinian Earl Scruggs; Today’s Bluegrass is the freight train of American Music. Its deep roots in Celtic, Old-Time, Old-Country, Blues, and Jazz are blossoming into "some powerful glory". Bluegrass has clearly become high-culture, and high-art. And tradition, heritage, legacy, meet down home nobility, and virtuoso sophistication, at IBMA’s World of Bluegrass 2013, in Raleigh, North Carolina. World of Bluegrass takes place from Tuesday September 24th through Saturday September 28th, 2013. You don’t want to miss this unique and historic opportunity to discover Bluegrass Today".
World of Bluegrass 2013 • "Even Yo-Yo Ma Plays Bluegrass… as do pop star Adele, country star Dierks Bentley, and rock star Tommy Shaw. The Berklee College of Music and East Tennessee State University, have Bluegrass and Roots Music degrees, and you can’t swing a fiddle without hitting a bluegrass violinist classically trained from the age of three. Musical virtuosity, world-class vocalists and songwriting, along with the capability to perform studio album quality live, every time onstage, are a few defining characteristics of bluegrass. While the artistry is "tried and true", the old "trite and untrue" stereotypical assumptions and generalizations about the genre have in fact little to do with reality. It’s mighty serious business by mighty serious artists."
