Over 1.4 million people have seen Horn in the West since it opened in 1952. Loved by young and old, the Horn in the West drama, written by Dr. Kermit Hunter, is located in the heart of Boone, North Carolina in one of the most beautiful outdoor theatres in the country.
The Mountains of North Carolina are rich in history. The Cherokee Indians, Daniel Boone and other early explorers and settlers are an important part of the history of our country. At the Hickory Ridge Living History Museum you can learn what life was like in the 1700s as our country was formed.
A year’s worth of meticulous work resulted in the facility you see today and earned them the Gertrude S. Carraway Award of Merit from the Historic Preservation Foundation.
