The beauty of a live collaboration between two bands with distinct sounds is to experience how each influences the music of the other. This holds true when the veterans of bluegrass, The Travelin’ McCourys share the stage with Sierra Hull and her band, Highway 111. The sons of the legendary bluegrass artist Del McCoury, The Travelin’ McCourys are loved and respected by the bluegrass faithful as they continue to push the limits of bluegrass with the air of confidence that comes with 20 years on the bluegrass scene. Playing a unique blend of traditional and progressive bluegrass, the band mixes styles, playing the “way they do it with Dad” and the way the current culture is moving this timeless music form. Appalachian Summer Festival 2012
An Appalachian Summer Festival 2012 • An Appalachian Summer Festival began in 1984 and has developed over the years to become one of the nation’s largest regional multi-arts festivals with over 26,000 people in attendance each year. Presented by the Appalachian State University Office of Arts & Cultural Programs, the annual arts celebration is held every July on and around the university campus, and features an eclectic, diverse mix of music, dance, theatre, visual arts and film. For nearly a decade, the festival has been named one of the "Top Twenty Events in the Southeast" by the Southeast Tourism Society.
